Five NGOs are suing the EU Commission over the inclusion of the EU’s Taxonomy Regulation that would allow planes and ships to qualify for green financing under certain circumstances, while still utilizing fossil fuel and polluting the environment. The plaintiffs contend that, by allowing this, and providing no incentive to switch to cleaner, alternative fuels, the Commission is hampering development of low-carbon alternatives in these sectors.
